You will need the equipment and materials listed below for one or more of your Skill Practicums.

Equipment:
  • Clipboard (optional, but a lot easier if used)
  • Pen (blue ink is recommended)
  • Body Weight Scale (regular home bathroom scale will do)
  • ​Body Tape Measure (4-foot string, cord, or light rope and a regular measuring tape will do)
  • ​6 Cones (ground markers of any kind, such as wash clothes, will do)
  • Exercise Mat (large beach towel will do)
Note: You can up-grade to more professional equipment after you get certified.
Access to a fitness facility with:
  • Treadmill
  • Rings (suspended and adjusted to waist height)
             OR
  • Bar (adjusted to waist height and stationary)
Note: Most gyms offer a 1-day free guest pass. If one is not available to you locally, use the Shuttle Test instead of a treadmill and use a bar suspended across 2 sturdy tables or counter tops of equal height. A thick 3/4" PVC pipe will do if the tables or counter tops are close together (< 3 feet apart) and the pipe is gripped near the edge of the tables or counter tops.

Optional: Chart Lamination Instructions
Health Risk Analysis Charts: BMI Chart (a) + WHR/HRA Chart (b)
  • Cut both sheets in half.
  • Place a BMI Chart half-sheet back-to-back with a WHR half-sheet.
  • Laminate one pair of the half-sheets into a 2-sided BMI/WHR Chart.
  • Trim laminated sheet to size.

Score Interpretation & Follow-Up Timeframes Chart (c), Med-Fit Exercise Rx Guidelines Chart (d), and Strength Training Chart (e):
  • ​Cut each sheet to size.
  • Laminate.
  • Trim laminated sheet to size.​
