Low Fit men with High Cholesterol can reduce their risk of dying by 27% by simply exercising and getting fit.
The therapeutic effect from exercise is better than the therapeutic effect of cholesterol-lowering medication.
In other words, exercise provides a greater risk reduction than cholesterol-lowering medication.
The question, “If you have High Cholesterol, which is your choice?” could be rephrased to, “If you have high cholesterol, would you rather take medication or get regular exercise, considering the different risk reductions?"
High Fit men with High Cholesterol who exercise regularly, have a lower risk of dying (by 9%) than Low Fit men with Normal Cholesterol who do not exercise regularly.
If you have High Cholesterol, which of the following would you choose?
Best Choice: Get fit by exercising and lower your High Cholesterol through better nutrition without the meds.
Conclusion: Fitness protects against the health risks of having High Cholesterol.
Note: If you do not have High Cholesterol (yet), many other studies have demonstrated that regular exercise decreases the risk (prevents the development) of High Cholesterol -- Lowers LDL (bad) Cholesterol and increases HDL (good) Cholesterol.
