1. Test Selection:
Picture
Format:
  • Some obese clients are intimidated by Treadmill tests and need extra attention.
  • Circle the format that you are going to use: Treadmill or Shuttle.
  • The Track format is mainly for school-based Med-Fit Services - not covered in this course.

Minutes:
  • The Walking Only test for obese (or other significantly unfit) clients is a 10-minute Test.
  • Circle the number 10.
2. Test Preparation:
  • Be able to clearly explain to your client what he/she will do.
  • Make sure your client is comfortable by assuring him/her that this is a simple Walking Test (no jogging).
  • Emphasize that his/her test "Result" is a baseline that simply establishes his/her current Aerobic Fitness Level.
3. Conduct the Test:
  • Refer to Learning Modules 29 & 30 (Clients with a BMI 35+). Use links above.
Picture
Distance:
  • Record the distance that your client covered during his/her 10-minutes of walking.

Score:
  • Calculate and Record your clients Aerobic Fitness Score.
  • Round-off to the first decimal.
4. Interpretation:
  • Refer to the "Score Interpretation & Follow-Up Timeframes" chart.
Picture
The Med-Fit Score for obese clients is the SAME as their 10-minute Aerobic Fitness (Walking) Test Score, because their Fitness Assessment does not include any muscle Strength Tests.
  • Calculate your clients total Med-Fit Score.
  • Record your client's Med-Fit Score as a Percentile (%).
Fitness Level:
  • Refer to the "Score Interpretation" part of the Chart.
  • Interpret your client's Score as his/her Fitness Level.
Follow-Up:
  • Refer to the "Follow-Up Timeframes" part of the Chart.
  • Write the # of weeks you recommend for the client to Follow-Up.
  • The # of Training Sessions is addressed in Learning Module 43.
Date:
  • Write the approximate Date for your client's Follow-Up Assessment.
  • Tip: Divide the # of weeks by 4 and count by Months from current Date.
  • Refer to a Calendar for specific Date selection.
  • This date is not a scheduled appointment.
  • Your clients will need to make an appointment for their Follow-Up when that Date nears.

5. Signature:
Picture
  • Print your full Name with credentials (MFT).
  • Sign your Name underneath or write your Initials to the right side.
You do not need to keep this partially completed Med-Fit Assessment Form. You will not use it in other Practicums.
